Sanctuary Social Care is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Social Worker to work full-time in Slough, within the Child Protection Team. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in Children's Services and be registered with Social Work England.

The pay rate for this locum Senior Social Worker job is £38.00 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an initial 3-month contract.

Duties:

  • Facilitating rehabilitation and managed move to return children back to their families where this is deemed to be in the best interest of the child / young person
  • Chairing strategy meetings, child protection meetings, missing person strategy meetings, risk management meetings etc
  • Chairing and attending panels
  • Chairing professionals and core group meetings
  • Chairing team meetings
  • Managing duty system/ duty rota
  • Interviewing prospective staff members and being part of staff recruitment process
  • Writing child protection conference report
  • Chairing and attending panels
  • Practice educator (pe) and supervising newly qualified Senior Social Worker
  • Staff recruitment and taken part in interviewing prospective applicants
  • Organising and attending core group meetings
  • Undertaken risk assessment
  • Referring children and young people and families to appropriate services
  • Attending panels (cin and resource panels)
  • Writing court reports and robust care plans
  • Court work and giving evidence in court
  • Undertaken child protection and child in need visits
  • Organising and taken part in strategy discussions/meeting
  • Updating child protection and child in need plans
  • Undertaken parenting assessments on parents/families during court proceedings
  • Care planning and implementing care plans, pathway and placement plans for children and young people
  • Undertaken financial assessment
  • Assessing situations where children are referred as needing protection, accommodation or care provision and being particularly mindful of equal opportunity issues to provide emergency services where children are referred as being at risk
  • Undertaken risk assessments and drawing risk management plans for children and young people who have been sexually exploited, linked to gangs, and who are regularly mispers (missing persons)
  • Coordinating and attending professional meeting, complex needs panels, vulnerable children panel and multi-agency planning meetings to discuss, draw and implement safeguarding plans to safeguard and promote positive outcomes for children and young people
  • Supporting children and families which have suffered domestic violence family/ dealing with child protection cases
  • Maintaining accurate records including using it systems, ics etc to record and input service user's information and to share information with colleagues and agencies where appropriate
  • Providing high quality services which are cost effective and appropriate in the best interest of children and young people and their families.
  • Attending looked after review for looked after children and young people
  • Working with families and arranging services for families and young people
  • Co-ordinating care for looked after children (lac)
  • Accommodating children / young people into care
  • Co-ordinating personal education plans (pep) meetings for looked after children
  • Attending panels to advocate for services and support for children/young people and their families

Requirements of the Senior Social Worker:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant senior level frontline experience within Children's Services
