Sanctuary Social Care has locum vacancy for a Senior Practitioner to work full-time based in Medway, within the Safeguarding Team. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in Children's Services and be registered with Social Work England.

The pay rate for this locum Senior Practitioner role is £39 per hour (Assignment rate) and is a 3-month contract.

Duties of the Senior Practitioner:

  • To manage complex caseloads and deliver high quality casework to children and families that comply with legislation, guidance and local policies and procedures, and achieve positive outcomes.
  • To offer expert opinion and support to colleagues on aspects of casework.
  • To maintain a focus on good practice and drive forward continuing improvement.
  • To be responsible and accountable for the practice of student social workers on placement, providing expert guidance, assessing practice in accordance with University guidance, and actively participating in the Student's Unit.
  • To work with colleagues to achieve service plan objectives/targets.
  • To participate in one to one Performance Development Reviews and contribute to the identification of own and team development needs.
  • To actively promote the Council's Fair Access, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and observe the standard of conduct which prevents discrimination taking place.
  • To ensure full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, the Council's Health and Safety Policy and all locally agreed safe methods of work.
  • To fully understand and be aware of the commitment to Section 17 of the duty of Crime and Disorder Act 1998 to prevent crime and disorder.
  • At the discretion of the Head of Service, such other activities as may from time to time may be agreed consistent with the nature of the job described above.

Requirements of the Senior Practitioner:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant senior level frontline experience within Children's services
  • 4 years + experience within Safeguarding teams
  • Signs of Safety trained - with certificate to evidence
  • Full driving licence and access to a car is essential
