Sanctuary Social Care has locum vacancy for a Senior Practitioner to work full-time based in Bromley, emergency duty assessment and intervention. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in Children's Services and be registered with Social Work England.

The pay rate for this locum Senior Practitioner role is £38 per hour (Assignment rate) and is a 3-month contract.

Duties of the Senior Practitioner:

  • With appropriate supervision from the Group Manager (EDT) to provide an emergency duty assessment and intervention service within the framework of the appropriate legislation, regulations, departmental procedures, and policies. This will include responsibility for dealing with situations where the service user's needs are particularly complex and problematic.
  • To ensure that services are efficiently and effectively provided out of normal working hours by liaising as necessary with other divisions, Council Departments, N.H.S. trusts, schools, carers, voluntary and independent sector providers.
  • To maintain high standards of professional practice within their own workload and to promote and enhance such practice within the team and division.
  • All postholders are expected to maintain professional standards of practice and to work in accordance with the Departmental vision, values, procedures and managerial guidance.
  • To respond to and assess by providing both telephone advice and social work visits to referrals received out of hours from social work staff, other internal and external agencies and service users. A number of these situations will involve making complex and skilled judgements about use of the statutory framework affecting children, adults and older persons.
  • To make recommendations to the Group Manager (or other budget holder as appropriate) regarding financial expenditure entailed in care plans and to undertake delegated financial responsibilities.
  • To undertake appropriate training and to maintain a knowledge of changes to departmental procedure, legislation and regulations and of developments in professional practice.
  • To assist within the team the development of practice; to contribute to training; to have liaison responsibilities and to represent the team on working parties and other bodies if required.

  • To participate in a shift and rota pattern that will involve providing a social work service outside normal working hours including weekends and bank holidays.

Requirements of the Senior Practitioner:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant senior level frontline experience within children's services
