Sanctuary Personnel, a leading recruitment company within the private and public sector has a role for a SEND Communication and Interaction Service Outreach Officer in Brent.

This pay rate for this role is £20.73 per hour (PAYE) and has an initial 10-month contract.

Main Duties:

  • Lead in providing a range of services and interventions in support of the educational needs of children and young children in Brent who are being assessed for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) attending mainstream settings.
  • Support parents / carers through the assessment process through tailored training sessions, bespoke strategies for their children and opportunities to meet other families.
  • Work in partnership with other professionals to support parents / carers attendance at meetings, understanding of their child’s needs and consistency of approach to support positive outcomes in educational settings and the home.
  • Close links with Brent Outreach Autism Team to support successful continuation of targeted support where required.

Requirements of the SEND Communication and Interaction Service Outreach Officer:

  • Relevant degree or qualification e.g Teaching, Psychology, Speech and Language Therapist or Qualified teacher status
  • Evidence of significant recent experience of supporting children and young people with social communication difficulties / autism spectrum disorder across the age phases 2-19 years
  • Significant experience of working within / with educational settings supporting children and young people with social and communication needs / autism spectrum disorder in mainstream education
  • An enhanced DBS certificate dated within the last 12 months is desirable but not essential
