Sanctuary Personnel, a leading recruitment company within the private and public sector has a locum role for a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse/Community Mental Health Nurse (CPN) to work full-time based in Sheffield, on the Acute Mental Health Decisions Unit.
The pay rate for this Registered Mental Health Nurse/Community Mental Health Nurse job is £24.76 - £40.00 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an initial 6-month contract.
Shift Pattern:
- Day - 07:00 am - 19:30 pm
- Night - 19:00 pm - 07:30 am
Duties:
- Responsible for the delivery of effective, safe, high-quality crisis care within the DU/Crisis Hub
- Effective assessment, planning, evaluation and management of crisis care, clinical need and risk
- Work closely with the Psychiatric Liaison Service, the acute mental health inpatient wards and varying community services to support and maintain patient flow throughout the system
- Provide clinical leadership and day to day coordination of clinical practice to support the effective delivery of care within the DU
- Develop strong links and protocols with other services and assist where appropriate to ensure the smooth and timely transition of patients moving between services
- Provide support for, and assist the Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Senior Operational Manager in the ongoing management and development of the DU and the wider crisis hub services
- Work as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team, maintaining high standards of patient-focused care
- Work flexibly to develop team working and to ensure consistent standards of care delivery throughout the wider crisis hub services
- Flexible work shifts covering a twenty-four hour period in order to meet service need
- Ensure that comprehensive nursing assessments are carried out for all patients within the DU to identify and plan for individual care needs and interventions
- Ensure positive approaches to patient engagement
- Take a positive approach to respond to patients who may present in crisis, adopting principles of diffusion and de-escalation
- Use relevant information in support of patient care and care planning, including available electronic information systems
- Monitor and actively role model positive and high standards of nursing practice and professional behaviour through demonstrable leadership
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, the wider crisis services and existing mental health teams to enable the swift and appropriate transfer between services in support of patient care
- Maintain collaborative approaches and effective channels of communication within the clinical team, multi-disciplinary team and other agencies
- Work flexibly in order to deliver an effective service across a 24-hour period
Requirements of the Registered Mental Health Nurse/Community Mental Health Nurse:
- Degree or equivalent within Mental Health Nursing (RMN trained)
- NMC registration and a valid live pin
- Inpatient and community backgrounds will be considered
- Would be willing to take on experienced and Band 5 nurses as a second qualified
- Be comfortable in the use of computer technology, have basic keyboard skills and have the ability to use email
