Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a QSW Safeguarding Specialist Practitioner within the Adult Disability & Mental Health Team to work Full Time based in Guernsey.

The salary for this QSW Safeguarding Specialist Practitioner job is up to £73,085 per annum.

Main duties:

  • Guide staff in providing care to patients/service users who lack capacity to make specific decisions for themselves and ensure the Mental Capacity Act is used lawfully within the field of adult safeguarding.
  • Utilise specialist knowledge and skills to provide guidance, support, safeguarding supervision, and training to HSC professional.
  • To contribute to the operational delivery of the Mental Capacity Act, and support in any required implementation of changes in processes and systems.
  • To propose, manage, evaluate and implements new service development/projects, including actions as identified in service reviews in conjunction with the Adult Safeguarding Team.
  • To participate in the Out of Hours Adult Safeguarding Service Manager rota as required.
  • Provide specialist safeguarding and support to staff in managing sensitive and distressing situations, involving complex and emotive issues in relation to adult safeguarding.
  • Respond to any disclosure of a safeguarding concern, and signpost appropriately and be empathetic and provide reassurance to staff in dealing with sensitive, complex issues and concerns.
  • Attend multi-agency strategy meetings and adult safeguarding case conferences/review  meetings if required and support Health and Social Care Professionals when working with complex cases.
  • Support other members of the Adult Safeguarding Team with their daily duties when competing priorities arise within the Adult Safeguarding Team.
  • Organise work in an effective manner to ensure that deadlines are met in line with key performance indicators.
  • Establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with colleagues within health including external agencies ensuring smooth and effective communication processes.
  • Assist the adult safeguarding leadership team in helping to facilitate and coordinate the provision of reports required and provide expert safeguarding advise to practitioners.
  • Establish and maintain communication with multi-agency groups and individuals working on complex and sensitive issues in a range of inter and multi-agency settings.
  • Access regular support and supervision with the Head of Adult Safeguarding and agreed supervisors.

Requirements of this QSW Safeguarding Specialist Practitioner job:

  • A social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Registered or eligible for registration.
