Sanctuary Personnel, a leading and award winning recruitment agency is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Prison Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to work based in Eastchurch.
The pay rate for this locum Prison Healthcare Assistant job is £11.76 – £14.11 per hour (Assignment rate) and is a 1-month contract.
Duties:
- Support the provision of a high standard of health care to patients in prison under the guidance of the Senior Clinical Team and Head of Health Care
- Work as part of the multidisciplinary team participating in procedures and duties in accordance with agreed standards relevant to role
- Participate in the assessment process of care needs and implementation of programmes of holistic care within set standards
- Ensure privacy and dignity is maintained
- Support the promotion of health and wellbeing of clients
- Undertake clinical interventions as delegated by a senior team member
- Maintain close liaison with the senior team member, who is responsible for the workload
- Maintain clear and comprehensive, signed and contemporaneous records both written and electronic according to Integrated Care 24 Ltd and HMPS procedures
- Assist with clerical and administrative duties as required
- Work in co-operation and partnership with all other professionals and agencies involved in care of the patient
- Aware of and act upon, where necessary, the procedures in place to protect vulnerable individuals
- Take responsibility within own competencies for supporting all aspects of infection prevention and control
- Work collaboratively with the team to meet the needs of patients with specified long term conditions by providing quality evidence based care
- Administer medication under a patient specific direction with the supervision of a registered healthcare professional
- Ensure effective communication when receiving information about patients
- Act as an ambassador for the organisation by demonstrating a high level of professionalism through excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Requirements of the Prison Healthcare Assistant:
- NVQ to level 3 in Health and Social Care
- Good level of English and IT skills
- Aptitude for development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all times, and build and maintain good working relationships with all stakeholders
- Willing to undertake a DBS check
- Clinical skills and competency relevant to the role e.g. undertake administration of the influenza vaccine
- Understand and adhere to policies and procedures as appropriate at all times
- Ability to mentor HCAs or junior staff new to the working environment
- Understand issues regarding accountability and delegation
- Knowledge of the management of long term conditions and self-care
- Ability to work under pressure and in a stressful environment
- Experience working under indirect supervision
- Previous experience working in a health and social care setting
- Flexible approach to working hours
- Ability to exercise tact and discretion and deal with confidential information
- Team Player
- Able to engage with people
- Full driving license
