Sanctuary Executive is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Principal Social Worker & Safeguarding Lead to work full-time in Wirral. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in children services and be registered with the HCPC.
The pay rate for this locum Principal Social Worker & Safeguarding Lead job is £529.55 per day and is an initial 3-month contract.

- To lead on the development of excellent professional social work standards, and integrated therapy
- To lead on the development and implementation of all areas of research and development in relation to Social Work practice and fulfil the Principal Social Work role, as set out in the Care Act, and provide leadership in safeguarding strategy and practice
- To be the safeguarding lead for Wirral & Wirral Health and Care Commissioning
Duties:
- Lead on systems of compliance with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Standards of Practice for Social Workers (SoPS) in England.
- Lead on the development and application of the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF) for all social care staff and support the application of the AYSE framework.
- Develop Quality Practice Groups across the department to inform and disseminate information, advice and learning in relation to social work practice.
- Develop and oversee internal audits across the commissioned social work services and to ensure professional compliance to standards. Manage a clear framework for learning from the audit programme, in close collaboration with the social work provider Health Trusts.
- Provide reports of a high standard to various senior management forums including partner organisations
- Advise the Director of Adult Social Care (DASS) and the Director of Quality and Safety on complex safeguarding cases, ensuring statutory responsibilities are discharged effectively.
Requirements of the Principal Social Worker & Safeguarding Lead:
- Professional Social Work qualification (e.g. Degree, DipSW, CQSW or CSS).
- Post qualifying learning/extensive evidence of CPD.
- Registered Social Worker with HCPC / Social Work England.
- Extensive Post qualifying experience and senior management experience
- Practice teacher / supervisor
