Sanctuary Personnel, an award-winning and renowned Recruitment Agency is looking for an experienced and dedicated Band 6 Physiotherapist to work full-time based in Ealing, within the Elderly & Respiratory Team.

The pay rate for this locum Physiotherapist job is £30 - £30.50 per hour (Assignment rate) and is a 1-month contract.

Main Duties:

  • To provide a quality physiotherapy service to LNWH patients in a wide variety of settings which may include the community.
  • To develop knowledge and skills in the management of in-patients at NUH – including care of Elderly and respiratory.
  • To take additional responsibilities for specific projects and the supervision of Band 5 staff, Physiotherapy Assistants and Students where required.
  • To have responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. Indirect supervision takes the form of clinical reasoning sessions, peer review. Access to advice and support from a Senior Physiotherapist is available.
  • To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations / multi pathologies; use advanced clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of patient condition.
  • Formulate and deliver an individual and group physiotherapy treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills e.g.: manual physiotherapy techniques/facilitation of normal movement, patient education and the use of adjuncts.
  • To communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure understanding of condition. Communication skills of persuasion and motivation are required. Clear explanation is needed to encourage the patients to undertake their treatment programme.  
  • To use communication tools (verbal and non-verbal) to gain valid consent with patients where there will often be barriers to effective communication e.g. loss of hearing, altered perception, expressive and receptive dysphasia, pain, fears.
  • Evaluate patient progress, reassess treatment programmes as required.

Requirements of the Physiotherapist:

  • Degree or equivalent within Physiotherapy.
  • HCPC registered as a Physiotherapist.
  • Recent post-qualifying experience working as a Physiotherapist.
  • Attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to the clinical rotations.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development maintained in a portfolio showing regular practical and theoretical learning.
  • Previous experience working as a qualified physiotherapist with theoretical and practical experience in a broad range of core and specialist areas of work such as orthopaedics, inpatient elderly and frail elderly, neurology, respiratory, musculoskeletal, community.
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Evidence of managing own caseload (punctuality, prioritisation and time management).
  • Able to present information, written and orally, in a clear and logical manner.
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate.
  • Understanding of clinical governance and its implications for services, including experience of quality issues and audit.
  • Ability to keep accurate and legible patient notes.
  • Able to participation in on-call rota.
  • Able to participate in 7-day service.
  • Knowledge of current issues within the NHS.
