Sanctuary Personnel, a leading and award winning recruitment agency is currently looking for experienced and dedicated Band 2/3 Pharmacy Assistants to work full-time based in Greenwich.

The pay rates for these locum Pharmacy Assistant jobs are £12 - £13 per hour (Assignment rate) and are 12-month contracts.

Shift Pattern:

  • 37.5 hours (Monday - Friday)

Duties:

  • Provide dispensing and stock issue services to the Greenwich Prisons
  • Dispense prescriptions that have been clinically screened by a pharmacist, following the appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Issue stock against a written order to the prisons within the Greenwich cluster
  • Undertake stock checks at the request of the Senior Prisons Technician
  • Ensure high standards and accuracy of work and to ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are read and adhered to
  • Ensure that the dispensary is kept in a clean and tidy condition at all times
  • Report any errors or issues immediately to the Senior Pharmacy Technician or the Responsible Pharmacist on duty
  • Working towards the necessary NVQ level 2 modules in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent)
  • Communicate with the pharmacy teams on the various prison sites if issues are raised that require dealing with locally
  • Communicate with the primary care teams if items requested for dispensing are out of stock and will be delayed
  • Appreciate thesecure environment you are working in and to adhere to all prison procedures as necessary
  • Undertake any other tasks at the request of the Senior Prison Services Technician/Lead Prison Services Pharmacist
  • Maintain the confidentiality of information about patients/offenders, staff and other health service business in accordance with Trust Policy
  • Ensure compliance with the Trust’s risk management policies and procedures
  • Ensure that they complete mandatory infection control training and are compliant with all measures known to be effective in reducing Healthcare Associated Infections
  • Treat all colleagues, service users, carers and members of the public with respect and dignity regardless of their gender, age, race, religious beliefs, religion, nationality, ethnic origin, social background, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, HIV/Aids status, criminal background and Trade Union status
  • Act at all times in accordance with the relevant professional Codes of Conduct and Accountability (including, where applicable, those for Board Members). In addition, all management staff must comply with the ‘Code of Conduct for NHS Managers’ and ‘Standards of Business Conduct for NHS Staff’
  • Attend mandatory safeguarding children training
  • Responsible for the security and the property of the Trust, avoiding loss or damage and being economical and efficient in the use of resources
  • Act in accordance with the rules and regulations as described in the Trust’s Policy relating to the Financial Management and Control of Resources’
  • Put the patient/client first and do their utmost to meet requests and needs courteously and efficiently
  • Actively determine and pursue agreed training and development needs and opportunities
  • Attend mandatory training as designated by the Trust

Requirements of the Pharmacy Assistants:

  • Must have a relevant qualification in pharmacy 
  • Willing to undertake an advanced DBS check, a prison security check (level 2) and CTC clearance prior to being employed
  • Be familiar with the Trusts infection control policies, and national guidance in relation to infection control
  • Be aware of the responsibility placed on them by the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) to ensure that the agreed safety procedures are carried out to maintain a safe condition for employees, patients and visitors
  • Be familiar with guidance on Child Protection/Safeguarding Children from their own Professional organisations; the trust and the London Safeguarding Children Procedures
