Sanctuary Personnel, a leading and award winning recruitment agency is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Band 8b Pharmaceutical Quality Manager to work full-time based in London, within the Pharmacy Department.

The pay rate for this locum Pharmaceutical Quality Manager job is £38.79 per hour (Assignment rate) and is a 3-month contract.

Some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends.

Duties:

  • Support the development of the strategic direction, leadership and the development of Pharmaceutical QA and QC Services to the Trust and to external customers of the Trust, to meet local, regional and nationally agreed requirements and priorities
  • Support the Head of Quality as nominated on the MHRA specials and IMP manufacturing licenses (MS/MIA (IMP) 13387/01), deputizing for them in their absence
  • Lead, manage, deliver, develop and evaluate Pharmaceutical QA and QC Services to the Trust
  • Provide technical support and advice on QA to other departments in the Trust and to external customers of the Trust including Radiopharmacy, PET, 15th floor Cell therapy Unit and 12th floor Catapult Unit
  • Be responsible for QA advice and support necessary for the management of Clinical Trials in the Pharmacy in accordance with the statutory requirements for Good Clinical Practice
  • Take a lead role in validating the Trust’s pharmaceutical production facilities to ensure compliance with required national standards
  • Support and assist the Quality Manager in the efficient and effective running of the Quality Assurance function
  • Be recognised as a national expert within Quality Assurance
  • Deputise in the role of Head of Quality as nominated on the MHRA specials and IMP manufacturing licenses (MS/MIA (IMP) 13387/01)
  • Develop Quality Systems to meet the changing needs and demands of the Trust and of external Regulators (eg: MHRA)
  • Contribute to the planning and design of new and upgraded pharmaceutical manufacturing, preparation and dispensing facilities within the Trust
  • Develop, write and present business cases for equipment, staff resources and service developments within the Pharmaceutical QA Services function
  • Advise the Associate Chief Pharmacist (Technical) and Senior Pharmacists in the determination of policy and plans for pharmaceutical services
  • Lead on the risk assessment and documentation of major changes to be made to Pharmacy Technical Services
  • Manage QA staff, including objective setting, appraisals, performance and attendance monitoring
  • Be responsible for recruitment of staff to QA and QC Services, including advertising, short-listing, interviewing and selecting staff
  • Develop training programmes for QA staff to ensure GMP and GLP compliance of Quality Services
  • Undertake and manage Trust HR procedures in respect of discipline, grievances and sickness absence
  • Participate in the training of pharmacists, scientists, pre-registration pharmacy graduates, technicians, and student pharmacy technicians as required
  • Support the purchase of new and replacement equipment
  • Help define the specifications, sourcing, price negotiation, installation, maintenance and repair of such equipment
  • Be responsible for the purchase of consumables for Quality Assurance
  • Undertake, supervise and give guidance on research projects arising from the work of technical services
  • Publish research and development work
  • Participate in investigations into the formulae used in the Production Unit, and into the determination of stability and shelf life
  • Undertake and support the development, formulation and validation of new products in response to clinical need and risk management in accordance with objectives set by the Associate Chief Pharmacist (Technical Services)
  • Co-operate with other NHS Trusts in the performance of Clinical Trials through the manufacture and supply of specialist IMPs by the Trust
  • Be responsible for QA advice and support necessary for the management of Clinical Trials in the Pharmacy in accordance with the statutory requirements for Good Clinical Practice
  • Establish, monitor and review QA Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, review and approve, specifications for starting materials, finished products, packaging materials which have been prepared by the Quality Control Department

Requirements of the Pharmaceutical Quality Manager:

  • Must be registered on the GPHC as a pharmacist
  • Must have a relevant qualification in pharmacy
