Sanctuary Social Care is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Personal Assistant to work full-time in Wandsworth, within the Leaving Care Team. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in Children's Services and be registered with Social Work England.

The pay rate for this locum Personal Assistant job is £20 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an initial 3-month contract.

Duties:

  • Supporting Looked After Young people aged 16-17 to understand their rights and entitlements to Leaving Care Services whilst also supporting them, their Social Worker and involved professionals to plan for their future in an effective, timely and realistic manner.
  • Provide all appropriate advice, guidance, support and assistance to support Young People Leaving Care aged 18-25 to make the journey into a successful, independent and stable adulthood.
  • To maximise the opportunities for young people to be productive and positive members of their Local Community as part of building a secure and stable network that will support them throughout their lives.
  • To ensure that Young People access their full entitlements under the Legislative frameworks for Care Leavers and that young people access in full the Local Offer made by Future First.

Requirements of the Personal Assistant:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant senior level frontline experience within Children's Services
  • Must knowledge and experience of working within the framework of legislation, guidance and local Leaving Care procedures
  • Must be highly motivated to improve outcomes for young people and use creative ways to enable care leavers to maximise their independence and create opportunities for them.
  • Must have excellent communication skills- both written and spoken- and will be able to engage Socially Excluded young people and advocate on their behalf.
  • Must be able to provide good quality reports and written assessments and be able to use IT systems confidently.
