Sanctuary Health is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Children's Occupational Therapist to work in Derby on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Occupational Therapy and be registered with the HCPC.

The pay rate for this locum Occupational Therapist job is £28.53 per hour (LTD Company Equivalent) and is an initial 3 -month contract.

Requirements of the Occupational Therapist:

  • Degree or equivalent within Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist
  • Recent NHS experience either pre or post qualification
  • Must be a car driver

The role:

The post requires an experienced practitioner who can undertake assessments of need which will include provision of aids, equipment and adaptations to property. The post holder will be required to carry out assessments of children and young people with disabilities, to identify their needs and to provide advice, information and recommendation of equipment / adaptation where appropriate and necessary. The post holder will be required to maintain good working relationships with internal and external colleagues. This will include working with colleagues from the Disabled Facilities Grant team, including architects when required. The post holder will be required to maintain a caseload of cases with complex needs, e.g. manual handling, housing situation, this will include maintaining up to date recording on Derby City Children's IT system, LCS. The post holder will understand current and relevant legislations and regulations related to health, social care and housing. Be familiar with the 'Person-centred' approach in working with children and young people with complex health and disability needs, and act in their best interests. The post holder will have effective and analytical assessment skills, making use of theory, evidence-based practice and experiences. You will need to be creative, flexible and highly skilled in problem solving, and to prioritise needs appropriately. You will have a wide range of knowledge and experiences in assessment for equipment, and design major adaptation in home environment. in addition, you will have considerable experience in risk assessment includes manual handling assessment and risk management plan.
