Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency is currently looking for an experienced Social Services Reablement Occupational Therapist to work based in Horsham or Worthing, within the Regaining Independence Service (RIS).

The pay rate for this locum Reablement Occupational Therapist job is up to £35 per hour (assignment rate) and is a 1-month ongoing contract.

RIS is a time limited reablement service providing rehabilitation for people who wish to regain or maintain ability in activities of daily living in their community. The RIS OT provides a reablement intervention plan alongside our partner agency who deliver the reablement package.

Main Duties:

  • Undertake strengths-based assessments (as directed by Care Act 2014) utilising Occupational Therapy skills and knowledge to develop and implement a plan of support, aimed at improving wellbeing and delivering outcomes for people.
  • Assess and provide equipment and minor works and have good manual handling knowledge and ability ensuring the reablement programme is monitored and reviewed and the persons outcomes are met.
  • Give advice, information, the provision of assistive equipment and recommendations for home adaptation.
  • Use up to date evidence-based practice to inform your intervention and where appropriate carry out risk assessments and undertake assessments under the Mental capacity Act and/or Deprivation of Liberty safeguards.
  • Maintain continual professional development (CPD) and sharing best practice with colleagues to deliver positive outcomes for residents in West Sussex is key.
  • Link people back into their communities, removing barriers to engagement and providing interventions that support resilience and maintain wellbeing is also essential to this role.

Requirements of the Reablement Occupational Therapist:

  • Degree or equivalent within Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Recent post-qualifying experience working as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Available to start as soon as possible.
  • Ideally full time but may consider someone part time for a minimum of 3 days.
