Sanctuary Personnel, a leading recruitment company within the private and public sector has a locum role for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work full-time based in Oxford, within the Mental Health Team.
The pay rate for this locum Occupational Therapist job is £27 per hour (Assignment rate) and is a 3-month ongoing contract.
Working Hours:
9am-5pm, Monday-Friday
Possible to negotiate start/finish time to accommodate travel etc
Main Duties:
Managing a varied caseload of complex and at times highly complex cases using evidence based Occupational Therapy practice that follows client centred recovery principles.
Assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating the outcome of interventions and documenting all stages of the process.
To be able to select, clinically reason and apply a range of occupational therapy assessments and interventions.
To work within a restricted environment risk assessing and managing opportunities to enhance and expand patients opportunities for occupational engagement.
Work effectively as a member of the MDT team on the ward, the wider inpatient Occupational Therapy team, and the team around the patient, inc. the patient themselves, their family, friends and carers, care coordinators, housing providers etc.
Participate actively in local meetings (clinical and operational as appropriate) and maintaining a high level of proactive communication with all those involved in an individuals’ care through formal, informal and in person and written lines of communication as indicated.
Participate in supporting distressed patients, including physical intervention to manage distress if required.
Clinical and managerial supervision will be offered 4 weekly (weekly for first two weeks).
Requirements of the Occupational Therapist:
Degree or equivalent within Occupational Therapy.
HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist.
Qualified Occupational Therapist with experience in working in mental health settings, and preferably knowledge of inpatient settings.
Proficient in using Occupational Therapy assessments (inc both standardised and non-standardised assessments).
Knowledge of model of human occupation and it’s assessments desirable.
Able to work autonomously and be proactive in seeking support outside of prearranged times when required.
Physically fit and able to support team in the management of distressed patients.
Car driver not essential although will need to be able to travel to Littlemore hospital site independently.
