Sanctuary Health is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Occupational Therapist to work full-time as a CAMHS Practitioner based in Southampton. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Occupational Therapy and be registered with the HCPC.

The pay rate for this locum Occupational Therapist job is £26 - £30 per hour (Assignment rate).

Job Purpose:

  • Work individually and jointly with the team to provide assessment, treatment and consultation service to children, adolescents and their families and to work with the wider care systems which impact on the welfare of the child.
  • Work within a highly experienced multi-disciplinary team involved in the assessment and treatment of children and young people with complex mental health difficulties.

Key Result Areas:

  • Manage own caseload from referral to discharge.
  • Provide a systematic, assessment, consultation and treatment service to children, their families or their professional carers, referred to CAMHS team.
  • Provide reports and maintain written records of assessments, clinical interventions and consultation meetings.
  • Work within the guidelines of Clinical Governance and employing NHS Trust policies.
  • Work to a job plan and participate in Choice and Partnership Approach (CAPA) in the delivery of Tier 3 CAMHS. This will include assessments and therapeutic treatment programmes for children, adolescents and their families.
  • Carry out specialist urgent assessments of a young person's mental health needs and associated risk when required including deliberate self-harm and suicide assessments.
  • Work with children, young people and their families promoting opportunities for their maximum engagement and involvement in formulations or care plans and evaluation of the service they receive.
  • Assess child safeguarding issues for each case.
  • Practice within local safeguarding guidelines, sharing and directly referring on concerns when appropriate and participating in multi-agency safeguarding conferences.
  • Provide both uni professional and multi professional assessments and interventions.
  • Liaise closely with our partnership agencies of Education, Social Services and the Voluntary Sector in order to facilitate proper coordination and development of services for children/young people with emotional, behavioural and mental health problems.
  • Liaise with other disciplines and agencies to ensure the best practice is shared.
  • Be prepared to travel to other sites and clinics, to schools and to the child's home To remain updated on local working together arrangements (e.g. children in need/Child Protection procedures).

Requirements of the Occupational Therapist:

  • Degree or equivalent within Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist
  • Recent NHS experience either pre or post qualification
  • Must be a car driver
  • Post qualification experience in mental health and preferably with young people, is ideal.
