Sanctuary Personnel, a leading recruitment company within the private and public sector has a
permanent role for an Occupational Therapist to work full-time based in Kettering.

The salary for this permanent Occupational Therapist job is £27,973-30,576 per hour (Assignment rate)

Main duties:

  • Conduct an accurate holistic assessment of patients’ needs in accordance with approved model of care
  • Assess, discuss and agree upon functional goals related to daily living that are important to the patient such as washing, dressing, domestic chores, bathing, driving, preparing and eating meals, or participating in work, school or leisure activities
  • Educate patients and give advice on the safe use of functional equipment, ensuring correct equipment is ordered, delivery and fitted correctly
  • Complete medical observations as per agreed clinical pathways within scope of practice, for patients in their home
  • Prescribe and install living aids: prescription of daily living aids for patients such as walkers and frames and train patients and families on how to use them safely
  • Equipment advice: give advice on how a home or workplace environment could be adapted in order to afford a greater independence and safety
  • Educate patients and give advice on the safe use of functional equipment, ensuring correct equipment is ordered, delivery and fitted correctly
  • Where needed (at end of agreed care episode) refer patient on for relevant NHS and / or social services such as community OT
  • Escalate issues/problems to Clinical Service Manager /Senior Clinical Services Manager where needed / clinically indicated
  • Adhere to (CQC/ GDP/NMC/GPHC / ICO) standards relevant to role
  • Chair / Attend all relevant committees aligned to remit of the role
  • Be aware of all responsibilities relating to Infection Prevention and Control

Requirements of the Occupational Therapist:

  • Degree or equivalent within Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist
  • Recent post qualifying experience working as an Occupational Therapist
  • Previous experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Track record of delivering ‘rapid response’ services
  • Strong patient and customer focus
  • I.T. Skills including email, excel
  • Excellent communication skills, including being assertive when needed
  • Planning & organisational skills - can multitask, and shows good time management skills
