Sanctuary Personnel, a committed and competitive recruitment agency is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Occupational Therapist to work in Liverpool on a full-time basis.

The salary for this permanent Occupational Therapist job is £30,615 per annum.

Duties:

  • Work as part of a multi/interdisciplinary team providing occupational therapy input within the BIRT neuro behavioural model to service users with acquired brain injury (ABI)
  • Liaise with internal and external professionals, family members and service users
  • Work within a specialist clinical area as an autonomous professional with support and supervision of a more senior OT. To accept professional accountability and responsibility
  • Carry out detailed risk assessments and ensure that these are regularly reviewed and updated and communicate this with the team effectively
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation in line with Royal College of Occupational Therapy (RCOT) guidance and produce professional reports with supervision
  • Work within infection control and health and safety guidelines in order to deal appropriately with conditions related to service user contact as they arise: for example, exposure to body fluids or infectious conditions
  • Identify priorities and manage time and resources effectively
  • Contribute to the occupational therapy and clinical speciality’s clinical governance arrangements and quality agenda including attendance at trust wide OT meetings and implementing agreed outcome measure
  • Undertake systematic information searches and critical appraisal of available evidence in order to inform practice
  • Participate with more experienced colleagues in identifying evidence gaps and contribute to the formulation of critical question(s) which warrant further research, audit or service evaluation, considering policy drivers and future research priorities
  • Implement RCOT clinical guidelines and have an awareness of other relevant guidance in the ABI/ rehabilitation field of practice
  • Support a culture where everyone is encouraged to learn from their mistakes through giving and receiving constructive feedback
  • Contribute to professional networks to promote exchange of knowledge and best practice
  • Be accountable for own practice and take every reasonable opportunity to maintain and improve own knowledge, professional competence and support continual learning and development
  • Attend and implement all mandatory training provided by the trust and be aware of other learning opportunities
  • Take personal responsibility for own health and safety and report incidents and potential hazards as necessary
  • Effectively manage your time to balance the demands of this role in an environment that can have unpredictable work patterns during your working time, changing priorities and frequent interruptions
  • Use appropriate physical intervention techniques once trained and competent
  • Support service users with personal care which may involve exposure to bodily fluids
  • Maintain your registration with all relevant regulatory bodies
  • Adhere to the RCOT Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and HCPC Standards of Conduct, performance and ethics

Requirements of the Occupational Therapist:

  • Degree or equivalent within Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist
  • Recent NHS experience either pre or post qualification
  • Be familiar and comply with the written policies, procedures and guidelines for good practice, issued by The Disabilities Trust
  • Be able to quickly and effectively adapt your working practices to meet the needs of the service user you are working with
  • Be able to manage challenging and aggressive behaviours with compassion and professionalism
  • Be able to support service users with mobility issues using approved moving and handling techniques which may include the ability to push a wheelchair or use a hoist
  • Be aware of Equality Diversity & Inclusion characteristics and ensure that these are considered appropriately throughout all work undertaken
