Sanctuary Personnel, an award-winning and renowned Recruitment Agency is looking for an experienced and dedicated Grade 4 Lifestyle Advisor to work remotely as part of St Helens Wellbeing Service.

The pay rate for this locum Lifestyle Advisor is £12.35 an hour (PAYE) and has a contract until the end of March 2022 with possible extension.

Working Hours:

  • General working pattern is 9am-5pm, but all hours considered
  • One evening 12pm-8pm
  • Occasional weekends as required

Main Duties:

  • To work as part of St Helens Wellbeing Service supporting individual clients to make lifestyle changes to improve health and reduce the risk of disease.
  • To provide a holistic approach, a personalised programme, advice and support with a specific focus upon physical activity, weight management and nutrition.
  • Provide highly specialist exercise prescription and programming to complex clients referred from Primary, secondary and community clinicians and act as a representative for promoting exercise and activity for all.
  • To conduct consultations with low to high-risk clients to assess risk factors to undertaking a programme of physical activity and facilitate personal action plans
  • To provide support, motivation and an appropriate action plan to each client within the case load
  • To facilitate the referral to courses and exercise programmes for each client and be responsible for recording their progress
  • To carry out review meetings to assess progress and provide long term motivation and guidance
  • To conduct physical activity sessions to people who are referred to St Helen’s exercise and diet intervention schemes
  • To support the delivery of services and activities for Children & Young People
  • Notify team manager of clients who have support needs external to the programme’s remit
  • Assist in the development of materials and activities for inclusion in lifestyle change courses
  • Facilitate training sessions on a one-to-one basis/ group in physical activity, weight management and other lifestyle issues as appropriate
  • Monitor the attendance and achievement of clients on each course of activity recording such details in the designated documentation
  • To carry out initial assessments with dignity and care and show commitment to the management of customer care, good practice and high standards of service
  • To follow all procedures and protocols developed by St Helens Wellbeing service at all times

Requirements of the Lifestyle Advisor:

  • Recognised GP referral Qualification or equivalent Level 3 qualification (REPS)
  • Vocational qualification in coaching, teaching and instruction of physical activity (at least level 2 reps)
  • Knowledge of physiological benefits of fitness programming for medical conditions
  • Understand the principles of Motivational Interviewing and models for behaviour change
  • Knowledge of nutrition and weight management principles
  • Development and delivery of exercise classes for special populations
  • Management of caseloads of clients
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Work effectively with a range of external partners
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service which may involve evening and weekend work
  • Access to own transport and ability to regularly travel across the locality in a timely manner, including to visit people in their own homes
  • Ability to actively listen, empathise with people and provide person-centred support in a non-judgemental way
  • Ability and commitment to provide a culturally sensitive service, by supporting people from all backgrounds and communities, respecting lifestyle and diversity.
  • Available to start as soon as possible
