Sanctuary Health has a permanent job vacancy for an experienced and dedicated Lead Theatre Practitioner to work in Orpington, Kent. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of general nursing and be registered with the NMC.

The salary for this permanent Lead Theatre Practitioner role is £40,000 per annum.

Role purpose:

  • Deliver safe quality care for patients during their peri-operative phase of care.

  • To lead and manage a team, coordinating staff training needs and resource requirements within a peri-operative function or surgical specialty.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team to deliver care that helps improve the health of the individual and wider community.

  • Lead the team in demonstrating compassion through effective relationships based on empathy, respect and dignity.

  • Develop own competence to deliver effective care and treatments through improving clinical/technical knowledge / skill, and expertise.

  • Communicate appropriately with others involved in the care of the patient.

  • Act as an advocate for safeguarding patients; demonstrate courage to speak up when there are concerns about care.

  • Demonstrate commitment to improving care and the patient experience.

  • Lead in the delivery of patient care, acting as functional / specialist practitioner.

  • Ensure that patient safety checks are carried out in accordance with the policy and that all practitioners adhere to the policy.

  • Contribute to quality improvement.

  • Develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of others and self.

  • Promote best evidence based practice within own scope of practice.

  • Apply legislation, policies and procedures correctly.

Requirements of the Lead Theatre Practitioner:

  • You will be a registered nurse and will have a valid NMC pin.

  • A genuine commitment to adhering to the NMC Codes of Conduct and expanding your professional development.

  • Recent UK Nursing experience

  • Mentorship in Practice or equivalent

  • Experience in a senior theatre role.

  • Experience in orthopaedic, gynaecology and general surgery at a senior level

  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
