The pay rate for this locum Inpatient Therapy Physiotherapist job is £28 - £29 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an ongoing contract.

Duties:

  • Working with a well-established multidisciplinary team including Pharmacists, Doctors, Consultants, Nurses and of course the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff
  • Gain further experience of working in an Inpatient setting working with patients who have multiple comorbidities
  • Providing a high-quality rehabilitation service, working closely with the multidisciplinary team
  • Assess patient’s physical, social and psychological needs within the hospital setting and in discussion with the patient, carer’s, family and multidisciplinary team formulate and implement treatment programmes and discharge planning
  • Support and supervise Therapy Assistants and participate in the training of others as appropriate
  • Work as an autonomous practitioner performing therapeutic assessment and treatment of patients with a diverse presentation and complex physical, psychological and cognitive conditions
  • Provide/contribute to the diagnosis of a condition and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme appropriate to the patient’s condition
  • Provide physiotherapy assessment and intervention in a hospital location
  • Assist Occupational Therapists on Home Visit Assessments from time to time
  • Hold responsibility for own caseloads working without direct supervision
  • Provide supervision to staff members in the team as necessary including students as appropriate
  • Teach and share information with other staff members as appropriate
  • Work closely with other health care professionals ensuring physiotherapy treatment is fully integrated into the patient’s care programmes and attend multidisciplinary meetings as required

Requirements of the Inpatient Therapy Physiotherapist:

  • Degree or equivalent within Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered as a Physiotherapist
  • Be able to supervise students should the need arise
  • Post qualification experience or equivalent, including multidisciplinary and community working, and have very good knowledge of a range of physical conditions relating to older people, including rehabilitation, falls and orthopaedics
  • Have very good clinical assessment skills, be able to utilise very good communication skills and be passionate about empowering patients, their carer’s and their Family
  • Flexibility and adaptability are essential
  • Be pro-active and adaptable and have knowledge and experience of working within the NHS system
  • Be flexible and work across any of the East Kent Community Hospital sites as required
  • Post qualification experience including elderly care, community work and working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Very good knowledge of a range of physical conditions relating to older people, including rehabilitation, falls and orthopaedics
  • Very good clinical assessment skills
  • Very good communication skills

  • Experience of working in the NHS System
