Sanctuary Health is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Infection Prevention and Control Specialist Nurse to work North Lincolnshire. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of nursing and be registered with the NMC.

The pay rate for this locum Infection Prevention and Control Specialist Nurse role is £24.87 per hour (assignment rate) and this role is a 3-month contract.

Overall purpose of the job:

  • As post holder of this role you will lead on effective infection prevention and control across the North Lincolnshire region, through the development and implementation and monitoring of robust processes, policies and procedures.
  • You will provide specialist infection prevention and control advice, support and training to ensure a safe environment for residents, service users, staff and visitors in line with national infection control frameworks and guidance.
  • You will be expected to be flexible in undertaking the duties and responsibilities attached to their post and may be asked to perform other duties, which reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility.

Main Duties:

  • Lead on the development and implementation of robust processes, policies, procedures, guidance, plans, strategies, performance frameworks and service specifications to ensure effective infection prevention and control measure are in place.
  • Provide specialist infection prevention and control advice regarding the implementation and interpretation of relevant policies, best practice, guidance and control frameworks.
  • Lead on the development of Infection Prevention and Control strategies advising provider organisations on implementation, improvements and monitoring outcomes.
  • Work with a diverse range of stakeholders (care homes, domiciliary care, schools, colleges, industry, community setting, voluntary sectors) to advise, promote and support implementation of effective infection prevention and control measures. Undertakes audits as appropriate (eg in care homes).
  • Undertake the investigation of community HCAIs including Serious Incidents, ensuring appropriate investigations are undertaken in line with national guidance, root cause(s) identified and recommendations are made for changes in practice.
  • Develop and lead on the delivery of the local infection prevention and control quality improvement audit programme across North Lincolnshire which will include the assessment and adherence to standard precautions in order to reduce the transmission of healthcare associated infections.
  • Work in partnership with a range of agencies and professionals to support, manage and co-ordinate outbreak prevention of infection within organisational facilities and in the community, offering appropriate recommendations and action plans to resolve complex situations in line with national guidance.

Requirements of the Infection Prevention and Control Specialist Nurse:

  • Degree or equivalent within general nursing (RGN trained)
  • NMC registration and a valid live pin
  • Must have at least 2 years post qualifying experience within nursing
  • Infection Prevention and Control Specialist experience
