Sanctuary Social Care is looking for an experienced and dedicated Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to work full-time in Glenfield, Leicestershire. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Social Work Practice in Children's Services and be registered with Social Work England.

The pay rate for this locum Independent Reviewing Officer job is £37.07 per hour (LTD Company Equivalent) and is an initial 3-month contract.

Duties of the Independent Reviewing officer:

  • To support a high-quality allegations management service and child protection conference service to ensure that the highest operational standard is achieved and maintained to maximise the level of protection offered to children and young people.
  • To assist with processes to ensure that schools are compliant with duties under the 2002 Education Act to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
  • To chair allegations strategy meetings.
  • To chair when necessary child protection conferences and child protection strategy meetings.
  • To ensure systems are maintained for recording concerns and allegations, monitoring progress and recording outcomes.
  • To Provide accurate records of statutory meetings to specified formats and within agreed timescales.
  • To receive information that involves allegations or concerns about staff, carers and volunteers working with children in all organisations within Leicestershire who work with children and to forward the information to the appropriate decision makers and operational leads for action.
  • To advise schools and other employers on the handling of allegations in accordance with Working Together, DCSF guidance and LSCB procedures.
  • To advise schools and other employers on the process and conclusion of investigations.
  • To assist in ensuring that allegations are pursued swiftly, thoroughly and fairly and in line with policy and procedures.

Requirements of the Independent Reviewing Officer:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant experience within a similar role
