Sanctuary Social Care is looking for an experienced and dedicated Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to work full-time in the City of London. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Social Work Practice in Children's Services and be registered with Social Work England.

The pay rate for this locum Independent Reviewing Officer job is £40- £41 per hour (LTD Company Equivalent) and is an initial 3-month contract.

Duties of the Independent Reviewing officer:

  • To support the Quality Assurance function and framework within the City of London Children's Services
  • To Chair Reviews of Looked After Children, Child Protection Conferences and the first Child in Need meeting for children who are subject to a Child in Need Plan. To Chair the first Pathway Planning meeting as a transition from LAC to Leaving Care and any subsequent Pathway Plan meetings in accordance with the needs of the service as designated by the Service Manager.
  • To be jointly responsible for the maintenance of a system to ensure that reviews of Looked After Children and Child Protection Conferences are completed within statutory timescales and reports are outcome focussed, realistic and to high standards
  • Ensure that wishes and feelings of children are given due consideration in meetings. That children and young people's views shape the development of reviews and conferences
  • To offer independent challenge around the care planning for children and young people supporting their best interest.
  • Inform and advise professionals on their role and responsibility in respect of Looked After Children Reviews and Child Protection Conferences
  • To ensure that parents participate and understand the plans for children
  • To promote and deliver a strengthening family/signs of safety model
  • To contribute to the development and quality assurance of service in the field of Looked After Children, Children subject to Child Protection Plans, Child in Need Reviews and Pathway Planning meetings for Care Leavers
  • To support performance data collection and ensure that plans are, outcome focussed and progressed in a timely way
  • To ensure that the LA is discharging its Corporate Parenting duties
  • To undertake audits in line with the City of London Quality Assurance Framework

Requirements of the Independent Reviewing Officer:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant experience within a similar role
