Sanctuary Personnel, a leading and award winning recruitment agency is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Equality & Policy HR Advisor to work based in Wembley.

The pay rate for this locum Equality & Policy HR Advisor job is negotiable and is an initial 6-month contract.

Duties:

  • Develop the council’s employment policies and procedures and ensure relevant legislation is complied with
  • Supporting the development, implementation and reporting of corporate strategies and action plans (eg. Brent Community Action Plan (BCAP) and Equality Strategy)
  • Ensuring for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and policy related objectives in HR Service Plan are achieved
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation in terms of Equality and Diversity requirements and workforce reporting
  • Supporting corporate projects from an HR perspective
  • Providing Directors and stakeholders with data, analysis and input for HR added value
  • Coaching, advising, training and supporting line managers in their understanding of Council HR Policies and EDI duties
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to identify areas of policy deficiency
  • Provide high quality, professional advisory services to the Council on all aspects of Equality Diversity and Inclusion, and HR Policy related work
  • Provision of credible advice to stakeholders on the application of the Council’s HR and EDI policies and legal obligations relating to Employment Law and Equality Diversity and Inclusion
  • Building successful partnership working with stakeholders such as the staff networks and the trade unions on policy matters and EDI matters
  • Advising on key processes in relation to EDI matters
  • Develop, revise and consult on HR policy documents involving Trade Unions and other stakeholders as required
  • Support the implementation and review of strategic EDI action plans to agreed timescales
  • Review/ develop the HR policy content on the intranet to ensure it is accessible, relevant and up to date
  • Ensure that the council’s overall vision, values and ethos are central to Equality and Diversity projects and other projects
  • Support policy and EDI initiatives to ensure the service will meet its strategic and departmental objectives and legal obligations
  • Support effective working relationships and act as an ambassador and advocate with external organisations
  • Review all Equality Analyses for HR and employee-impacting proposals
  • Draft reports to CMT for sign off of E&D iniitiatives and other HR projects, as required
  • Review and recommend to the HR Management Team, the Equality and Diversity acceditations and memberships offer with view to obtaining sign-off for obtaining the same
  • Support the work for attaining such Council-wide standards
  • Influence the work and purpose of the employee networks to support corporate objectives and initiatives
  • Participate in the collation of management information including processing the staff survey to inform human resources service developments
  • Make recommendations for changes to service delivery and development of new initiatives based on trend analysis and experience

Requirements of the Equality & Policy HR Advisor:

  • Professional member of the CIPD at MCIPD or FCIPD, or equitable demonstrable experience
  • Evidence of continual professional development as a human resources practitioner
  • Knowledge and understanding of key human resources processes such as Equality Impact Assessments
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of human resources best practice in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion coupled with a thorough understanding of the practical application of current and upcoming employment law
  • Experience of researching, developing and writing HR Policy and/ or Strategy either independently or collaboratively
  • Successful experience of furthering the EDI agenda in an organisation
  • Successful experience delivering human resources advice and support to multi-sited stakeholders across the human resources functions, including within working groups
  • Experience of providing advice and guidance on EDI matters
  • Excellent written skills - ability to produce appropriate drafts of letters, draft policies / procedures, staff communications and reports
  • Effective influencing and persuasion skills together with evidence of success in building and forming working relationships, and working flexibly, across professional and operational boundaries in a multi-sited organisation
  • Ability to work collaboratively to review, develop and implement effective human resources policies and procedures, ensuring these are communicated and implemented effectively
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex information
  • Ability to research topics to prepare briefings / presentations and in-house communications to both HR and non-HR audience
  • Demonstrate successful experience promoting and implementing equalities and diversity considerations in all aspects of human resources management and organisation development
  • Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and use of a case management system
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to managing conflicting priorities and a demanding workload
  • Ability to lead and manage council wide multi-disciplinary project teams, using project management programme tools
