Sanctuary Personnel, a leading recruitment company within the private and public sector has a locum role for a Band 7 Dysphagia Speech and Language Therapist to work full-time based in Armagh.

The pay rate for this locum Dysphagia Speech and Language Therapist job is £25.52 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an ongoing contract.

Duties:

  • Work effectively and practice collaboratively within multidisciplinary/rehabilitation teams, in a range of settings, in order to meet the needs of clients with dysphagia
  • Contribute to the relevant statutory processes at all stages for the clinical specialty
  • Maintain clinical notes and statistics in line with professional and Trust policy
  • Organise domiciliary, community and joint visits in line with Trust policy
  • Initiate and maintain effective liaison with carers, other professionals and agencies relevant to client group
  • Champion the transformation of dysphagia services
  • Promote the wellbeing of adults with dysphagia
  • Promote the wellbeing of patients with dysphagia across the population in terms of IDDSI implementation
  • Provide current, evidence based advice and support to staff supporting patients with dysphagia
  • Promote multidisciplinary team working for patients with dysphagia
  • Ensure that the care of patients with dysphagia across the Trust is transformed through standardised, evidence based and in line with best practice guidelines
  • Review of current Trust models and ensure that all new models, documentation, policies and procedures are embedded and disseminated in a timely manner
  • Provide advice and support to carers, family members and friends of the person with dysphagia
  • Ensure that staff, patients and carers can access a variety of resources and information regarding dysphagia, and are signposted accordingly to appropriate community services and support groups
  • Assist in reviewing the patient and carer experience
  • Raise awareness, share information and empower other members of staff and multi-disciplinary teams regarding dysphagia and caring for patients with dysphagia
  • Challenge poor practice appropriately in order to transform services
  • Adhere to national and local standards and guidelines relating to professional practice
  • Care for and maintain clinical equipment and test materials
  • Maintain and further develop specialist clinical skills, knowledge and expertise and related policy and legislation
  • Access clinical advice/support from Senior Clinical Specialist for highly complex cases, and participate in regular supervision with the Project Team LeadProvide Specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessment and management of clients with dysphagia, as appropriate
    Make onward referrals to other Professionals as required

Requirements of the Dysphagia Speech and Language Therapist:

  • Degree or equivalent within Speech and Language Therapist
  • HCPC registered as a Therapist
  • Recent post qualifying experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist
