Sanctuary Social Care currently has a locum vacancy based in Southwark for a Deputy Team Manager. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Social Work Practice in Adults' Services and be registered with Social Work England.

As the post holder of this role, you will receive a competitive rate of £29.88 - £32.86 per hour (LTD Company Equivalent) and this role is a 3-month contract.

Duties of the Deputy Team Manager:

  • To promote a model of self-directed support with customers and carers and enable them to determine their own outcome-focussed solutions.
  • To be responsible, with the Team Manager, for the provision of a comprehensive and effective social work team in accordance with current legislation, council policy and best practice.
  • To manage and supervise a cohort of social care practitioners which may include workers from different professional backgrounds, ASYE and student placements. This will include setting objectives, performance management and appraisals, and co-ordinate induction programmes for new staff.
  • To provide the team professional guidance and support in complex assessment and case management functions delivering high quality, responsive and customer-focused services.
  • To coordinate the most complex cases, which may be strongly contested and high profile. To develop appropriate packages of care to meet the needs of vulnerable service users, and control cases which are not permanently allocated but subject to regular monitor and review.
  • To support the smooth transition of cases approaching 25 years to the relevant team. Ensuring through case audit that cases are up to date and liaising with team managers regarding the status and allocation needs accordingly.
  • To manage and supervise in accordance to council policy and national standards a cohort of social workers and occupational therapists.
  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate client care needs in conjunction with the client, carer and families, multidisciplinary team and other community/inpatient services.
  • To work in close partnership, encourage and maintain effective communications links across community areas in order to promote good working relationships and continuity of quality care.

Requirements of the Deputy Team Manager:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant senior level frontline experience within Adults' Services
