Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a job based in Wigan for a Band 2 Dental Receptionist to work within the Community Dental Service.

The pay rate for this locum Dental Receptionist job is to be confirmedand is an initial 3-month contract.

Travel may on occasion be required in order to attend meetings, training or to cover colleagues at other premises such as Oldham Integrated Care Centre, Bury Moorgate Primary Care Centre, Heywood Phoenix Centre and Rochdale Nye Bevan House.

Duties:

  • Be responsible for reception duties associated with the Community Dental Services inclusive of any associated clerical and typing duties
  • First point of contact for patients who are attending dental appointments
  • Use in house IT systems
  • Operate the R4 patient administration system for the Dental Service
  • Booking appointments, collecting patient registration details, exemption status documentation, inputting data onto the computer and eliciting simple symptom information
  • Carry out general clerical duties as requested by the team – e.g. faxing; photocopying; filing, printing of documents
  • Facilitate the provision of dental appointments with other dental providers
  • Answer telephone enquiries and take messages as appropriate
  • Courtesy call patients on a daily basis to confirm appointments in order to maximise slot utilisation
  • Maintain high standards of communication skills and promote a positive image of our service
  • Provide information and answers queries relating to accessing NHS dental services
  • Maintain filing systems as appropriate
  • Be responsible for the collection of patient monies, daily float checks & till reading balances
  • Advise patients re accessing the out of hours Emergency Dental Service
  • Adhere to centre and trust policies and procedures including the confidentiality policy and the data protection act
  • Provide other such duties appropriate to the post, as shall be determined from time to time
  • Collect data as part of organized and approved audits e.g. patient satisfaction questionnaires
  • Be responsible for monitoring levels of department stock of stationery and ordering supplies when needed
  • When and where appropriate to the role, to comply with the processing of requests under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
  • Comply with Trust policies that protect the information assets of the organisation from unauthorised disclosure, modification, destruction, inappropriate access or use and must pay due regard to the requirements of the NHS Confidentiality Code of Practice
  • Be responsible for maintaining the clinical and or corporate records that fall within the remit of this role to the standards in Trust records management policies, and data quality processes and standards
  • Postholders with elevated access to IT systems are held accountable to the highest standards of use
  • The risk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards, and a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions
  • Ensure that they keep up to date with the Act and that the delivery of patient care/services is conducted in line with local and national policy and the MCA Code of Practice
  • Adhere to national and local safeguarding policies / procedures and to act upon any concerns in accordance with them

Requirements of the Dental Receptionist:

  • Educated to GCSE level
  • Active NMC Registration
  • Ability to exhibit a calm and professional manner when dealing with difficult patients
  • ECDL/RSA 1 or equivalent
  • ECDL advanced
  • ECDL Advanced
  • Certification in Education
  • Experience of working with the general public
  • IT skills with working knowledge of all Microsoft office applications – Word, Excel, Database, Email, Power point
  • Possess tact and diplomacy in dealing with people
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • NHS healthcare administrative experience of experience of working public sector
  • Good IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Efficient organisation skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Ability to liaise at all levels with people and build effective relationships
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to keep accurate records via databases, spreadsheets
  • Ability to work in a busy and pressurised work environment
  • Flexible/adaptable time management skills and ability to work flexibly across the directorate footprint to meet the needs of the service
