Sanctuary Health is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse to work full-time within a Short-Term Support Focus Team based in Lambeth. The ideal candidates will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Mental Health Nursing and be registered with the NMC.

The pay rate for this locum Community Psychiatric Nurse role is £24.26 per hour (Assignment rate) and is a 3-month contract.

Summary:

  • The STS Service will be part of the Lambeth Living Well Centres. It is a short term support team, where people can access multidisciplinary and integrated assessment and support. The three Living Well Centres mirror the developing primary care neighbourhoods (PCNs) across the borough. As 'place based' services, they are embedded in their local communities, so that people can be supported to make long term connections to sustain recovery.
  • The STS Service provides two functions: a short term primary care offer to include an enabling approach and practical support and a short term secondary offer for people who, in the main, have needs that require more complex intervention.

Main Duties:

  • Offer primary care intervention, working alongside GPs to support them in diagnosis, intervention, treatment and medication advice.
  • Offer short term 'secondary care' intervention for those people who present with increased risk, complexity and/or intensity of input which results in more complex care-planning.
  • Support people who have social needs in relation to their mental health.
  • Support people who require practical assistance/ advice (housing, benefits, increasing connections, employment) and cannot access this without 1:1 assistance because of their mental health or functioning.
  • Provide care needs assessments.
  • Address Adult safeguarding concerns.
  • Contribute to virtual clinics alongside GP colleagues, offering expert advice in personalised treatment options, including those with multiple long term conditions.
  • Work within relevant national and local and best practice guidelines including NICE and other partner organisations.
  • Reflect working practices that are sensitive to the needs of the local population and ensure equity of access and service delivery for all service users regardless of ethnic background, gender, culture, marital status, sexual orientation or physical disability.

Requirements of the Community Psychiatric Nurse:

  • Valid NMC registration under Mental Health
  • Experience working within a similar role would be highly desirable
  • A degree or equivalent within Mental Health Nursing (RMN trained)
