Sanctuary Personnel, a leading recruitment company to the private and public sector has a locum vacancy for a Band 6 Community Mental Health Practitioner to work based in Stafford, within the Access (All Age) Team.

The pay rate for this full-time role is £25.23 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an initial 3-month contract.

Shift Pattern:

  • Core business hours, 08:00 am – 20:00 pm, Monday - Friday not including Bank Holidays

Duties:

  • Assessing mental health referrals into Secondary MH Care
  • Delivering safe and effective services
  • Developing clear outcomes following triage and undertaking risk screening to agree and determine level of service to be offered to service user and carer enquiries
  • Provide effective advice and guidance to meet needs of service user and or professional with follow up calls, in accordance with Recovery Wellbeing principles
  • Reporting to Shift Co and other team members, other clinical teams e.g. Across all clinical pathways, and other Trust Support service personnel
  • Have a crucial role in processing, assessing and determine the mental health and social care needs of a person referred to determine their ongoing needs and facilitation of service provision
  • Participate in the delivery of the agreed aims and objectives of the service and identify factors which may inhibit these from being achieved
  • Assist in the delivery of a high standard of Mental Health care to service users referred to the service
  • Implement agreed systems for the monitoring of effectiveness of care
  • Participate in the education and management of junior staff
  • Maintain an up to date awareness of the infection control precautions relevant to your area of work and implement these in practice
  • Hand hygiene, the use of personal protective equipment, the use and disposal of sharps and communicating the importance to patients, prison staff and other health care staff you are working with
  • Participate, promote and support others in undertaking learning and development activities
  • Abide by the safety practices and codes authorised by the trust

Requirements of the Community Mental Health Practitioner:

  • Valid registration
  • Be a Registered Mental Health Professional e.g Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker
  • Non medical prescribing qualification AMHP
  • Excellent risk assessment and management skills in relation to and positive risk taking and decision making to enable safe and effective responses for an identified client group, largely by telephone/assessment
  • A proactive approach to ensuring you meet the statutory/mandatory training requirements of your role, and engaging in PDC appraisal processes in line with Trust policy and guidance
  • Familiarisation with and adherence to Trust Safeguarding policies is an essential requirement of all employees as is participation in related mandatory/statutory training
  • Ability to use computers and other information technology as required
  • Post-registration experience
  • Previous experience of working in the community
  • Experience of previous working as a Community Mental Health Practitioner or similar
  • Knowledge of current initiatives impacting on the service
  • Psychological therapy training/Brief interventions
  • A working knowledge of risk assessment and management related to the area
  • A good knowledge of local resources and access to local information
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Clinical Pathways
  • Can demonstrate the skills required to work within and across teams and professional boundaries
  • Be able to lead on assessments by telephone confidently and competently
  • Knowledge of the wide range of statutory independent and third sector service provision for C & YP with mental ill health
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Knowledge of Children’s Act, Mental Health Act, the Mental Capacity Act and DOLS
  • The ability to prioritise own workload and the workload of others and meet set deadlines
