Sanctuary Personnel, a committed and competitive recruitment agency is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Band 6 Community Mental Health Nurse (CPN) to work based in Bristol, within the BANES Team.

The pay rate for this locum role is £35 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an initial 1-month contract.

Shift Pattern:

  • Work rotational shift patterns including nights.

Main Duties:

  • Provide appropriate, effective interventions, and treatments to people with a range of mental health needs, and their carers (including friends and relatives) and their supporters in the community, enabling and assisting them to meet daily health, social care, and wellbeing needs, in line with personal recovery goals, and facilitating engagement with mainstream services.
  • Work autonomously to undertake emergency assessment in a wide range of locations, planning and delivering defined, intensive, specialist interventions.
  • Work alongside other services to plan, deliver, and review effective ‘wrap around’ intensive interventions to manage risk and prevent hospital admission for those with the most complex needs.
  • Act as care/Recovery coordinator or associate Care/Recovery coordinator as required.
  • Be responsible for developing delivering and reviewing comprehensive and complex treatment programmes using appropriate frameworks in line with evidence– based practice, including strategies to manage risk for service users with complex needs and carers, bringing in other resources as required.
  • Personally build and lead others to build, hope inspiring relationships with service users, which acknowledge the personal journey of each person, and focus on strengths and aspirations to allow the creation of meaningful personal recovery plans.
  • Be responsible for maintaining own workload, as well as planning the workload of others, on a day to day basis, ensuring that time is prioritised effectively, utilising electronic resources such as diaries/scheduling.

Requirements of the Community Mental Health Nurse:

  • Valid NMC registration under Mental Health.
  • Previous experience working as a CPN.
  • A degree or equivalent within Mental Health Nursing (RMN trained).
  • Demonstrate substantial post-registration experience gained working in a range of frontline adult mental health services, undertaking assessment, and delivering interventions.
  • Experience of undertaking carers’ assessments.
  • Highly developed verbal communication skills, able to engage effectively with people at all levels even when a more assertive approach is needed.
  • Highly developed written communication skills, with experience of compiling and sorting notes and reports, establishing statistical data and analysing information.
  • Mobile with the facility to move quickly across a geographically dispersed area with limited access to public transport.
  • Substantially developed IT skills including competent use of Microsoft Office, and the use of electronic record keeping systems.
