Sanctuary Personnel, a committed and competitive recruitment agency is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Band 6 Community Mental Health Nurse (CPN) to work based in Sheffield, within the Adults Recovery Team.

The pay rate for this full-time role is £29.78 per hour (Assignment rate) and is an ongoing contract.

Shift Patterns:

  • Generically 09:00 am – 17:00 pm, Monday – Friday
  • 08:00 am – 18:00 pm 4 days per week, although part time will be considered


  • Continuing responsibility for the provision of skilled intervention of people with assessed and diagnosed as having significant mental health problems in the community
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary service under the supervision of experienced staff
  • Acting as a Care Co-ordinator/Lead Professional
  • Work within Care Programme Approach
  • Carrying a varied caseload defined by need
  • Contribute to a duty system on a rota basis
  • Delivering supervision to more junior members of staff
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary service development
  • Act in a leadership capacity as/when required by the service
  • Ensuring a high standard of quality care is provided and in conjunction with local and national standards
  • Re-validation and adhere to professional guidelines and code of conduct
  • Work within the framework of relevant policy and legislation both local and national
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments of an individual's health and social care needs in a variety of settings and agree the most appropriate course of action
  • Responsible for acting up in the absence of Senior Practitioner
  • Maintains accurate patient care records in accordance with professional codes of conduct and trust procedures and ensures records are made available when required by the appropriate agency
  • Regularly review own caseload with supervisor to promote efficacy and contribute to the overall management of the service
  • Contributes and participates in reflective practice
  • Promotes an understanding of mental health and wellbeing for service-users and colleagues
  • Maintain a positive attitude towards others
  • Act as mentor to junior staff, keep up to date with relevant course and curriculum developments, and maintain 'sign off' status
  • Contribute to audit, research and evaluation as appropriate
  • Maintain confidentiality, in line with the Trust's Confidentiality Policy and Code of Conduct
  • Identify and report risks, hazards, incidents, accidents and near misses promptly

Requirements of the Community Mental Health Nurse:

  • NMC/HCPC registration
  • Previous experience working as a CPN
  • A degree or equivalent within Mental Health Nursing (RMN trained)
  • Be comfortable in the use of computer technology, have basic keyboard skills and can use email
  • Familiar with the signs and symptoms of abuse and know what to do if any such concerns are raised
  • Know about and follow the Trust's safeguarding children and safeguarding adult policies which can be found on the Trust intranet, and participate in related mandatory/statutory training
