Sanctuary Health is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Band 6 Community Learning Disability Nurse to work full-time based in Coventry. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Mental Health Nursing and be registered with the NMC.
The pay rate for this locum Community Learning Disability Nurse role is £24 - £25 per hour (Assignment Rate) and is a 3-month contract.
Summary:
- Support children with learning disabilities and families, by providing nursing assessments and interventions for children with significant mental health needs and/or challenging behaviour.
- Work closely with multi-professional/multi-agency teams to provide a comprehensive, joined up service for children with learning disabilities and complex needs.
Main Duties:
- Hold a caseload independently and as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Undertake comprehensive and specific assessments of the children's and families' needs, working in partnership with other disciplines/agencies where appropriate.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate the delivery of care, feeding in relevant information to support wider service planning, and taking on a lead professional role within this as appropriate.
- Work in partnership with others, to assess and identify the child's needs, taking into account parenting capacity, environment as well as the child's needs.
- Follow processes of reasoning which balance additional information against the overall picture of the child's needs to develop a hypothesis.
Requirements of the Community Learning Disability Nurse:
- Valid NMC registration under Mental Health
- Experience working within a similar role would be highly desirable
- A degree or equivalent within Mental Health Nursing (RMN trained)
