Sanctuary Health has a permanent vacancy for an experienced and dedicated Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to work full-time in Essex.

The salary for this permanent Clinical/Counselling Psychologist job is £44,606 to £50,819 per annum.

Summary:

  • The work will focus on managing and supporting patients with serious mental illness (SMI - usually omplex trauma, Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder or co-morbid Psychosis) and their teams through the often difficult transition from in-patient wards to home treatment teams, and community based services. The primary focus will be on addressing the treatment and management needs of patients with Personality Disorder, supported by both the locality or specialist service team, and the specialist PD MDT. The applicant will need to be experienced at working with people with extremely complex presentations.
  • The role involves working alongside and consulting to teams in inpatient, specialist care, urgent care and community settings, and offering psychological treatment to individuals as well as complex risk and other assessments. This will involve working closely with team managers to consider the most effective ways of communicating psychological practices and ideas to the team.
  • The role will involve facilitating and providing group and individual specialist psychological interventions for patients with SMI. These interventions can be carried out in any service teams, and you will align treatments with those offered as usual in in-patient, community, specialist team and primary care arenas. You will be responsible for ensuring that effective, tailored, evidence based psychological interventions are delivered to service users. In doing so, use goal setting and interventions focused on re-engagement in self-care, productivity and leisure activities, and monitor and evaluate the use of relevant therapeutic, standardised assessments and outcomes.
  • You will work with the Consultant Lead Psychologist to ensure that the psychology service is current, evidence based and in line with practice standards, providing day to day psychological therapy, clinical leadership, evaluation and monitoring of the service. You will be expected to work collaboratively with key partner organisations, service users, carers, clinicians and other practitioners within the multi-disciplinary team in delivering services; providing a 7-day a week, 24-hours a day service for 365 days a year, working shifts where appropriate, and operationally required.

Requirements of the Clinical/Counselling Psychologist:

  • To be eligible for this role you must be an HCPC registered psychologist, have a relevant qualification and recent experience is essential.
  • Post graduate doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or its' equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) including specific models of psycho-pathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the BPS.
  • Post accreditation training in additional specialised areas of psychological practice such as DBT/schema therapy/CAT/mentalization approaches.
  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
