Your new role

The Business Development Manager holds overall responsibility for maximising revenue opportunities both through new sales and opportunities within the existing customer base.

Candidates need to demonstrate strong commercial acumen and leadership in order to deliver a performance that meets and exceeds budget. You will be responsible for:

  • Maximising the revenue opportunities of the Business
  • Devising strategies that enable the financial goals to be achieved
  • Preparation and submission of reports and other documentation in line with company requirements detailing how you have performed against company targets
  • Customer retention & development. Retain and grow existing customers by presenting new solutions and service delivery
  • Strategic planning
  • Monitoring and developing the pipeline of new business coming in to the company

Key Responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Consistent & proactive monitoring, recording and analysis of the market and competition
  • Devising strategies, from analysed data, in order to drive new sales and retain existing customers and increase their spend
  • Working in partnership with the sales team to ensure awareness of available space all times
  • Branding - ensuring adherence to the brand guidelines as outlined by the marketing team
  • Analyse revenue opportunities and create and implement sound strategies in order to maximise and achieve the budgeted profit target
  • Monitor, analyse and assess pricing, customer service delivery and market conditions
  • Have the analytical ability to spot trends, identify selling opportunities and increase the customer base
  • Develop a growth strategy focused both on financial gain and customer satisfaction
  • Attend industry functions and conferences
  • Provide feedback and ideas on market and creative trends and generating future sales strategies
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, new services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company's unique selling propositions and differentiators
  • Prospect for potential new customers and turn this into increased business
  • Travel is required, and it is therefore the Business Development Manager's responsibility to manage their time in accordance with business priorities
  • Undertake any other duties consistent with the nature of the role or as otherwise requested

Essential Criteria

  • Proven track record in a sales environment
  • Good presentation skills and understanding of sales psychology
  • Analytical ability
  • Awareness and understanding the required strategies to deliver the budgeted level of sales
  • Capable, strategic thinker who is commercially astute
  • Ability to operate with minimum supervision and direction
  • Willing to travel

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience within / knowledge of the health and social care sector
  • Understanding of the Public Sector
