Sanctuary Health is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Band 6 Sexual Health Nurse to work full-time or part-time in Oldham. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of general nursing and be registered with the NMC.
The salary for this Sexual Health Nurse role is £30,401 to £37,267 per annum.
About the job:
- To provide a comprehensive contraception and sexual health service to the local population in clinical and non- clinical settings working as an autonomous practitioner. To take responsibility for day to day management of clinics, ensuring a timely quality service is delivered and providing high standards of patient care.
- The post holder will also be involved in working collaboratively and co-operatively with colleagues and commissioners to develop services in line with commissioning and objectives.
- Works autonomously to manage his/her own caseload of patients whilst working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Issues methods of contraception and treatments for sexually transmitted infections according to Patient Group Directions & clinical protocols including counselling for and management of complex problems with contraceptive implants and intrauterine devices with appropriate referral to the doctor as necessary.
- Insertion and removal of contraceptive implants and removal of intrauterine devices following appropriate training.
- Provides STI/HIV screening and treatment according to Patient Group Directions & clinical protocols and liaises with clients with positive results to enable a management plan of care for the client and partners in accordance with policy.
- Provides advice and cytology screening as appropriate, according to local policies.
- Enables patient choice and involvement and initiates appropriate action.
Requirements of the Sexual Health Nurse:
- Valid NMC registration
- A degree or equivalent within nursing
- Sexual Health experience
- Working within Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Ability to demonstrate a highly skilled knowledge, understanding and ability to apply new research evidence and established theory into clinical practice.
- An understanding of how beliefs, values, emotions, culture, social environments and other conditions affect models of intervention and patient participation.
- Knowledge of health, healthcare and social service agencies related to specialties of physiotherapy and orthopaedics.
