Sanctuary Criminal Justice is currently looking for experienced and dedicated Band 6 Alcohol Liaison Nurse to fill a full-time role in Tooting. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of substance misuse nursing and be registered with the NMC.

The pay rate for this locum Alcohol Liaison Nurse role is £27.29 per hour (LTD Company Equivalent) and is an initial 3-month contract.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Providing a screening and brief intervention service to clients who have been identified as drinking to a level that is assessed as being potentially harmful to their health.
  • Assess all clients referred from ED and inpatient wards/clinics and provide expert advice and signposting to community substance misuse services.
  • Work closely with local specialist services providing provision for people with alcohol dependency.
  • Be able to communicate and negotiate in complex situations, and can make clear autonomous and clinically safe decisions related to patient care.
  • To work with medical and nursing staff within the hospital to provide screening and brief interventions for alcohol misuse that can be easily integrated into existing medical and nursing triage/assessment processes.
  • Implement and monitor screening tools as an integrated part of nursing and medical; medical triage/assessment.
  • Respond to referrals from all hospital departments including following up those referrals made from hours.

Requirements of the Alcohol Liaison Nurse:

  • Degree or equivalent in mental health nursing
  • Current NMC registration (RGN/RMN)
  • Significant experience as a substance misuse nurse
