Sanctuary Social Care currently has a permanent vacancy based in Aylesbury for an Assistant Team Manager, within the Help & Protection Team. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of Social Work Practice in Children's Services and be registered with Social Work England.

As the post holder of this role, you will receive a competitive salary of £41,860 - £44,007 per annum.

Duties:

  • To assist the Team Manager to, manage and supervise a team of multi-disciplinary staff including qualified, experienced Social Workers to deliver statutory services to children and young people in need of support, protection and care.
  • Promoting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people
  • Improving children and young people's life chances and outcomes in the care of their parents, or other carers
  • Assisting with the leading, managing and supervising social work practice
  • Assessing, planning, delivering and reviewing social work services
  • Assuring the quality of practice, managing performance and delivering value for money
  • To supervise staff, qualified and unqualified, as delegated by the Team Manager to ensure the continuity of service delivery by the team.
  • To manage the teams' duty system and team diary and to work as part of the duty system.
  • To provide immediate guidance and support to staff receiving referrals or providing advice.
  • To liaise with operational teams ensuring cases are transferred and priorities made clear

Requirements of the Assistant Team Manager:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant senior level frontline experience within Children's services
  • Able to confidently performance manage and handle difficult conversations
  • Ability to make accurate assessment of risks and decisions
  • Ability to see appropriate options and alternatives
  • Ability to see and draw on the bigger picture - sees impact and implications
  • Ability to identify complexities & escalating risks and judge appropriate solutions
  • Ability to understand which other resources/people to draw on
  • Demonstrates and applies professional curiosity
  • Ability to set and maintain pace
  • Ability to deal with multiple priorities
