Sanctuary Health is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Assistant Practitioner (Occupational Therapy Assistant) to work full-time based in Southwark.
The pay rate for this locum Assistant Practitioner role is £22.50 per hour (Assignment rate) and is a 4-month contract.
This is a front-line patient-facing role and cannot be carried out solely working from home.
Summary:
Successful candidates will contribute towards assessing for and provision of appropriate person centred interventions with adults who predominantly have a physical disability, but may also have sensory, learning and/or mental health needs.
Work under the direct supervision of an occupational therapist as a part of an integrated Health and Social Care service to maximise independent living and choice within the home environment of Southwark residents.
Undertake initial assessments of needs and use sound reasoning skills, under guidance, to identify short-term and long-term interventions for people who have a physical disability. Initial assessment will include provision of standard equipment, and under guidance recommendations of adaptations and will take into consideration the needs of the carers.
Manage a caseload of service users, including monitoring tasks, under the supervision of a qualified professional. This will require all work time to be managed effectively and efficiently and involve maintaining accurate electronic case records of all service user related activity and any service related administration tasks.
Participate in the duty system for the integrated Health and Social Care service as required. This may involve offering advice and information, the collection of information and screening of new referrals to establish the service user's needs.
Order, fit, check, demonstrate and practice the use of the recommended equipment. This may include progress chasing the delivery of the equipment.
Requirements of the Assistant Practitioner:
Degree or equivalent in occupational therapy
Ability to demonstrate sound reasoning and to use creative problem solving skills.
Ability to assess needs and respond appropriately, seeking help or advice where necessary.
Ability to work as part of an integrated Health & Social Care team in a flexible way.
