The new Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers (RoATP) is a list of organisations that are approved to deliver apprenticeship training for employers.

Sanctuary has been a keen advocate of apprenticeships over the past decade, employing hundreds of local young people through the scheme at its Ipswich head office and helping them to launch their careers. Almost half of Sanctuary’s current workforce of 252 began their career as an apprentice with the company.

The announcement means the company is able to deliver apprenticeship training directly to staff from 1 May 2017, allowing for increased contact time and extra support for its apprentices.

Chief Executive, James Rook said “Many years ago, when I was first looking for a job, I remember being turned away by employers and told I needed to get some experience. But it’s very difficult to get experience if people don’t give you a chance in the first place! Our Apprenticeship Academy offers young people that chance, an opportunity to get on the ladder and get their career started.

“The investment we make into our apprenticeship training is of huge benefit to the business, enabling us to discover some highly ambitious, talented young people that have a great energy and a passion to thrive.”

In another recent announcement, Sanctuary was awarded the Youth Pledge Marque by New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership for Norfolk and Suffolk.
