Main duties:

  • Daily Briefings and provide an overview for any children who are discussed within the missing section of the meeting. This gives information on why these children are open to SC; what support they are getting; information gathered from SC reviews; any work completed i.e. peer mapping: and allows for feedback of actions that are required from SC.
  • Represent Childrens Social Care at meetings such as the Daily Briefing, Child Exploitation Missing Operational Group (CEMOG) and regional meetings. You will bring information and intelligence into the hub from SC reviews which would enhance their understanding of risk and priority people/places.
  • Provide advice and guidance to SC managers and Social Workers regarding exploitation and missing cases.
  • Lead on ensuring that SC teams have a clear understanding of exploitation and contextual safeguarding and how to respond.
  • The role will increase the understanding of contextual safeguarding, trauma informed practice and different forms of exploitation across the SC workforce and act as a single point of contact for support and advice on complex cases.
  • Provide support to Social Workers who are holding complex cases where exploitation is a risk and provide support and guidance to ensure that young people and families are receiving the support that they need.
  • Have responsibility for training within the SC teams to ensure that those children where exploitation is a concern there is a whole family approach i.e. developing a programme/package of work to ensure work with parents is completed and targeted work with siblings.
  • Support policy and resource development.
  • The role will co-located in the Safeguarding and Exploitation Service and Childrens Social Care.
  • Day to day management support will be provided by the Hub Manager and line management will be provided by Childrens Social Care.
  • This role will be responsible for leading on co-ordinating the effective multi-agency response to the prevention, identification, and disruption of child exploitation.

Requirements of the Senior Social Worker:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant frontline experience in Children’s Services
  • Have experience within children social care/safeguarding/missing and exploitation
